About the Author

“The craft of fiction is the art of remembering”

David Sylvester studied creative writing and literature at The University at Albany, the College of Saint Rose, the New York State Writers Institute, Coastal Carolina University and creative writing workshops too numerous to list.

He published his first collection of short stories, I Would Tell You If I Could, in 2020, and followed up that debut collection with Still Life, in 2022.

His first novel, Hung Be the Heavens with Scarlet, was released in the Fall of 2024.

Originally from The Bronx, he lived in New York’s Capital Region for many years. He now splits his time between the Capital District and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

He offers workshops in reading the short story through the Upper Hudson Library System in Troy, New York and the Chapin Memorial Library in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and in creative writing through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Coastal Carolina University.

Mr. Sylvester is available for workshop and discussion group facilitation.
